Taiohae’s intact tikis were impressive

Definitely drinking blood

So, before we left the anchorage of Taiohae for Anaho, both on the island of Niku Hiva, which is part of the easternmost archipelago of French Polynesia, I had one more visit to the tiki in town that told the most graphic story. It truly is some sort of person/diety lying on its back, holding a head on its lap with its hands, drinking the blood coursing down from the head into its open mouth.

More Tikis!

It’s cool to see original tikis that haven’t been castrated by the English colonists!
